Good morning fellow Nigerians, scammers are not relenting
Now the long hols are over it’s time to get back to work and recoup or strategize
to make 2016 better than what 2015 gave us.
In our busy daily activities, we might stumble on several challenges but
we should not give up but rather seek means to tackle them head on.
I wish to bring to our notice the new scheme of things these scammers
and/or fraudsters intend to use to rip us off our hard earned cash.
Below is the sms I got from certain customized number “CBNBVNUNIT” which
can be read as “CBN BVN UNIT”
These are
some facts I would like us to note and never fall prey to these guys;
i.
CBN
would not contact you directly and at the same time ask you to call a certain
number
ii.
It is
the duty of your bank where your account is domiciled to contact you and
request you come to their office if at all there is need to.
iii.
Take for
instance that you have more than one ATM card, now take a look at the sms sent,
which of the ATMs are they referring to? And with which of the banks?
iv.
Messages
that are sent out as regards your BVN or banking details should not be sent
across to just any number
v.
Take out
time and go to the nearest branch of your bank and report to them should you
notice any variation in your account or should in case you have fallen for the
trick, so that appropriate actions can be taken and swiftly at that
I went further to ascertain the
number included in that sms on the mobile app “true caller” and I was the least
surprised when the mobile phone app showed the name attached to the number as “FRAUDSTER”
I wish all of us 2016 of better
life with fullfilment and God’s blessings
